Watch Championship Play-off Final at Tempest Bar NYC

This Saturday, May 19,  at 10:00 am NYC time, a treasured spot in the Premier League is on the line as West Ham and Blackpool square off in the Championship Play-off final.

This isn’t a game that will be easily available in NYC. Most bars don’t show any soccer at all, and most also don’t open until 11:30 or so. Thus, you likely came here to find out where to watch the Championship play-off Final in New York City.

Tempest Bar will be showing the West Ham vs. Blackpool game, to a boisterous crowd of fans. As one of the few remaining authentic Irish taverns in NYC, and owned by a sole proprietor who has long been an avid English soccer fan, Tempest Bar is one of the best bars NYC to watch West Ham vs. Blackpool match.

With large TVs everywhere you turn, $4 pints, a pool table, and world class darts, Tempest Bar is one of the very best bars in New York City to watch the Championship Play-off Final. Of course, we’ll also be showing the Champions League Final and the Preakness Stakes later in the day.

We have a huge space, so bring all your friends!

An historic, hard-core NY Rangers Bar

The last time NYC was this excited about the New York Rangers was 1994.

After an historic regular season in which the team had its second-best record ever, and was on track to have the most points in the NHL until a late-season stumble, fans had high expectations as the team entered the playoffs.

While the team’s offensive output has been disappointing and unnerving, and the games uncomfortably close, the fact remains that the team is playing in the Eastern Conference finals, with only the arch-rival New Jersey Devils between them and playing for the Stanley Cup.

Tempest Bar was one of the few bars near MSG that was around in 1994, when there were only about 6 bars in the vicinity. Tempest was crowded when the puck first dropped in the first game of the playoffs, completely full by the time Messier made his famous guarantee and Matteau scored his Double OT goal in the semi-finals against the Devils, and utterly mobbed by the time the Rangers beat the Canucks in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Police were conducting crowd control out on 8th Avenue.

With the opening of quite a few Johnny-Come-Lately bars in the ensuing years, things won’t likely get as crowded in 2012. But if you want to once again be a part of NY Rangers history, we recommend you visit one of the only places that was part of the most glorious year for the Rangers for its current generation of fans, and has been “home” for thousands of Rangers fans every season since – Tempest Bar, the best NY Rangers bar NYC.
